The 1664 Synthesized Remote Firing Device (RFD) provides a safe and cost-effective method to remotely initiate energetic materials used in blasting and demolition operations. The 1664 RFD eliminates long and dangerous wires, while providing a very safe standoff distance between you and the explosive charges. The 1664 RFD is versatile and can be used to initiate up to 10 series detonators, or non-electric shock tube. Cost savings are found when tube consumption is reduced by 50% or more. The 1664 RFD is very easy to use with clear markings, indicators, and a quick reference guide mounted permanently on the Controller units case.

SAFE-DEPENDABLE-VERSATILE

The 1664 RFD is built to work safely and reliably through the day-to-day operations of the commercial Mining or Quarry industry. Each unit is packaged in an easy to see bright orange, waterproof Pelican case. For easy carrying, both units are nested together in the larger case. The shock-protected electronics contained in each unit are hand assembled and tested to ensure a high degree of reliability. Two-way communication between the Controller unit and the Detonator, allows a visual display on the Controller to confirm the status of the Detonator (armed or disarmed) from a standoff distance of 1 or more miles*. Where a longer distance is required, the 1664 may be operated in a one-way communication mode. In the one-way communication mode, explosives can be initiated from a standoff distance of 5 or more miles*. The Detonators power level is limited to 1 watt, which is a safety precaution against the possibility of an inadvertent initiation caused by high power radio transmission.

ADVANCED-TECHNOLOGY

The proven digital encoding and message validation technology used in our 1649 Military RFD has been incorporated into the 1664 to provide you with the safest and best communication link available. Each system is assigned a unique digital ID number by the manufacturer so that no two systems can communicate with each other. All messages are authenticated using a CRC-16 error-checking algorithm. The synthesized operation of the 1664 allows for the use of hundreds of frequencies in the VHF and UHF bands.
